About Jan Brett • With over 40 million books in print, Jan Brett is one of the most famous author/illustrator of children’s books. • When Jan was a little girl, she wanted to be an illustrator when she grew up. • She spent hours and hours reading and drawing as she grew up. She says, “I remember the special quiet of rainy days when I felt that I could enter the pages of my beautiful picture books. Now, I try to recreate that feeling of believing that the imaginary place I’m drawing really exists. The detail in my work helps to convince me, and I hope others as well, that such places might be real. ”
About Jan Brett • The first book she wrote was “Fritz and the Beautiful Horses” in 1981. • Jan often travels to different countries to get inspired for new characters and stories to write about. • She now lives in Massachusetts with her husband Buffy, her pet hedgehog. • Her best known books include, “The Hat, ” “The Mitten, ” “The Three Snow Bears, ” and “Gingerbread Baby. ” • Some awards that Jan has received are: Children’s Picture Book Bestseller List, Best of the Best Books of 2010, and Educators’ Top One Hundred Children’s Books of 2007.
