God’s promise is fulfilled through His sovereign choice • God’s choice, not human effort • God’s choice, not human tradition • God’s choice, not human virtue

God’s promise is fulfilled through His sovereign choice • God’s choice demonstrates God’s mercy Romans 3: 10– 12 “None is righteous, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one. ”

God’s promise is fulfilled through His sovereign choice • God’s choice demonstrates God’s mercy 1 Corinthians 1: 27– 29 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world. . . so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.

Romans 9: 10– 12. . . when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, . . . Isaac, though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad – so that God’s purpose according to His choice would stand, not because of works but because of Him who calls – she was told, “The older will serve the younger. ”

Application #1: Rest in God’s sovereignty Psalm 46: 10 “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. ”
