What are Classifications? § Classifications – provide the means to identify fields of interest within a conference programme – are decided by each conference (Programme Committee) to fit the event – are entered into the SPMS by means of tables (Main and Subclassifications) – may be used independently, or combined to produce finer tuning – are normally assigned to each contribution by the contributor upon abstract submission 14 -18 November 2005 JACo. What are Classifications? § provide the Administrator and Programme Committee members with the possibility to identify contributions, search and sort § are the means whereby it is possible to group contributions, for example, within oral sessions and poster sessions § in conjunction with the Session screen (type of presentation, date of presentation, start and end times, title of session, location and sort order), it is possible to schedule topics in the conference programme and automatically generate programme codes 14 -18 November 2005 JACo. Main Classifications Screen - fields § Main Classifications are entered by the Administrator – Main Classification Code (a number) – Classification Description (main activity) – Session (“old” PAC-style - session entered manually in a Session screen, and used to generate paper IDs for poster presentations - is generated automatically in “new” system) – Conference Code (EPAC/ICALEPCS, etc. ) for future repatriation of data ? ? ? – Experts - the Administrator has the possibility to assign “Experts” - i. e. Conference Coordinators, Programme Committee members, who have privileges related to reclassification of abstracts, refereeing, proposals for oral presentations, etc. 14 -18 November 2005 JACo. Sub-classifications Screen § Sub-Classifications are entered by the Administrator – Sub-classification Code (a number) – Description (the activity) – Conference Code (EPAC, ICALEPCS, etc. ) – Session (once the Sessions will have been created via the Session screen, it is possible to select a session for the presentation of contributions and thus fit them into the overall programme 14 -18 November 2005 JACo. Combine Main and Sub Classifications Screen § Provides the means to Combine Main with Subclassifications for finer tuning within the programme – a sub-classification can be combined with several main classifications, for example the sub-classification “advanced concepts” could apply to different types of accelerator (hadron accelerators, linear colliders, etc. )… § Automatically generates programme codes for poster presentations via the “Assign Session” function when Sessions have been set up in the database via the Sessions Screen (Presentation Type/Programme Code) 14 -18 November 2005 JACo.
