Welcome, adventurer! Difficult times require exceptional skills. But even our best fighters failed in their quest to defeat the dragon. They lacked your heroism. You are more than welcome to meet our party in Hobbiton. Decide for yourself what path you will choose - will you just sit back and wait for our destruction or will you help us save the world? Fare thee well, Dwarfs
Character Selection Have you decided to dust off your travel gear? Get to know your fellow adventurers, gather a party and become a valid member of your team. Which abilities express you best? Choose one of the following options and do not forget to use your skills throughout the quest – there is no other path towards victory. • • • Wizard – you search for magic and focus on fantastic aspects, your area of expertise is everything unusual. Human – you live in a reality in which you only believe in what you can see with your own eyes, you're looking for realistic elements. Elf – your life is characterised by an eternal search for beauty, you notice magnificence, lyricism and you are fond of everything aesthetic. Hobbit – you may be the smallest, but you also are the most perceptive member of the group. You are the master of observing the surrounding world, its dynamics and social relations, you like secrets. Dwarf – you are the leader of your group, you set the path and the goals, you coordinate your companions, you seek the evil so that you can sweep it off with your two-handed axe.
Weapons and Equipment Scholars of our age have collected ancient scrolls with secrets that should remain hidden to the eyes of mortals. But without them, you can hardly succeed in your quest. • • https: //en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Middle-earth_peoples https: //www. theepochtimes. com/hobbit-the-races-of-middle-earth_1149027. html (information about the races of our world) Many beings will cross your path: • https: //en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Troll • https: //en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Dragon You will be required to use various types of knowledge: • http: //bestfantasybooks. com/heroic-fantasy. html (definition of heroic fantasy) • https: //www. dailywritingtips. com/20 -types-and-forms-of-humor/ (comedy and its categories) • http: //www. surfturk. com/mythology/fairytaleelements. html (essential features of a fairy tale) • http: //upacarausia. blogspot. com/2012/02/role-of-nature-in-literature. html (on the relationship of nature and literature) • And we must not forget about the visual and musical recordings of the previous heroic attempts: http: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=NRUBe 2 RTq 74 (the beginning of the heroic journey) http: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=X_cy 4 fric. LU (an encounter with the trolls) It is important that you document your quest and create a valuable diary for the generations of other heroes.
Meeting in Hobbiton Being party members, you meet in Bilbo‘s hobbit hole. You are staring at each other and you see the adventurers from all around the world. Your first day's task is to: • describe your companions from the perspective of your character (a hobbit observes social relationships, a man provides realistic descriptions, etc. ); • think about the specifics of your group and determine the conditions of your success; • create a journal entry.
What Do Trolls Eeat? You are trapped by a group of fearsome trolls. While they are arguing about the appetizer, solve the following tasks to save yourself: • describe your prisoners from the perspective of your character; • define the character prototype represented by trolls; • identify the weaknesses of trolls based on their dialogues; • think about the comicality of trolls from the social point of view; • do not forget to write the second entry in your diary.
Riddles in the Darkness surrounds you. Cold, humid air pushes you to the walls of a cave. You recognise the indistinctive, muffled voices echoing from a distance. A sudden silence startles you. Green eyes glow into the gloom. The hideous creature approches you and challenges you to a game of riddles. To win is your only way out! • Who is that strange creature? • Examine the symbolism of the puzzles during your quest; • characterise the language in your world; • create a third journal entry.
Flies and Spiders You are lost. They warned you not to leave the road. Dense cobwebs with coarse fibers astound you with their size. Hardly any light can penetrate through the crowns of ancient trees. Can you escape from the dark forest? • Look around and describe your surroundings; • explore the function of nature from different perspectives; • analyse the dichotomy of myth and nature in this world; • continue recording your adventures in the journal.
Fire and Heroism You did it! You are standing at the bottom of the mountain. Its peak is covered in smoke and ashes. Suddenly, a monstrous roar resonates through the valley and sends chills down your spines. The massive body of the dragon ascends into heights. The final fight begins. • Investigate the dragon as the last obstacle on your journey; • think about the relationship between good and evil in your world; • identify the fairy-tale principles in your fight with the dragon; • finish your adventure log.
Evaluation of the Expedition • 1 – performance worthy of carving the adventurers' names into the hall of fame, the party successfully overcame all the pitfalls and the cooperation of its members was at a high level, an effective synthesis of individual knowledge into diary entries was conducted, the task solutions are comprehensive and the diary entries formally excellent. • 2 – the party was staggering toward the goal, the cooperation was not always ideal, there were occasional disagreements in the party, the diary entries provide answers to the questions, but they are less complex and formally insufficient. • 3 – members of the party were lulled by the vision of heroism, they were not focused on the tasks, an individual effort outweighed a collective endeavour, the assignments are often solved from the perspective of a single character, the multi-layered responses are absent, formal lexical or stylistic errors are present. • 4 – the party lacked the sense of belonging, its members did not use their potential, they often forgot their abilities and did not fulfill their role within the group, the responses were frequently unrelated to the questions, the journal entries are partial and contain many formal errors. • 5 – adventurers their abilities and did not fulfill the tasks, they were not interested in heroism and did not cooperate, an individual effort was absent, the tasks were approached without any involvement and failed to be solved, the journal entries are not logical nor are they comprehensive.
Conclusion Dear adventurers! May your names be remembered and honoured forever. No danger weakened your determination, you have fought your way to the glorious victory. You have uncovered the biggest secrets of our world, you have explored the relationship of magic and reality, the dichotomy of nature and community. You have examined the style of our best scribes. But know that your heroism is not a virtue to forget! Exceptional skills must be used to solve the most difficult duties. Who knows what kind of evil will threaten us in future! Your loyal servants, Dwarfs
