How it works • Each position is assigned to a position class • Each position class has a minimum, mid-point and maximum • A recommended minimum is provided • Ranges increase annually the same as the pay for performance increase average • Allowances are made for experience, hard to fill positions
Future considerations • Use this for current staff and adjust upwards within range for experience, certifications, increased skillset at annual performance review time • Establish criteria for promotions into a new range

Example of Job Responsibilities IT Prof Sr IT Prof Supervisor Sr Project Manager Perform a wide range of professional duties in information technology. The support provided by these positions would be at a response level more complex than initial help desk support but not necessarily highly specialized. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Perform a wide range of highly complex or specialized professional duties in information technology. The support provided by these positions would be at the Tier II or III level. Senior IT Professional positions would typically reside in the system office among the positions that support functions across the colleges. Exceptions would be for the larger schools that have higher levels of IT support within their school. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Supervises and oversees the daily activity related to providing IT services. Manages staff, prepares work schedules, and assigns specific duties. Implements unit goals, objectives, policies and procedures. Resolves customer complaints or answers questions regarding policies and procedures relevant to the work group. Provides employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems or in resolving escalated complaints or disputes. Trains or instructs employees in job duties, or arranges for training to be provided. Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Oversees the management of large, complex projects that cross multiple functional areas. Responsible for planning, organizing, securing, managing, leading, and controlling resources to achieve specific goals. Typically does not supervise the staff they work with but coordinates employees from various groups or departments as needed to complete projects on time and per project constraints.
