National Backbone Network About the Project • A high-speed 2, 300 Km fiber-optic network that will interconnect all the districts and border posts of the Country • This network shall also provide converged IP/MPLS services to 226 identified located in the districts • Sites to be connected: district headquarters, schools, universities, hospitals, health centers, social security fund offices, RRA & Customs offices, police offices, immigration offices, utilities, army camps/barracks, BNR branches, Judiciary Offices, ORTPN sites, etc… • Border post connectivity for regional and international traffic IT Broadband Connectivity Infrastructure Projects

Kigali Metropolitan Network About the Project • Construction of a high-speed Fiber-optic network in the Kigali metropolitan area; • Deployment of Network Equipments (MPLS) to provide IP data, voice and video services to all government agencies in Kigali City; • Construction of a Network Operations Control Center (NOC) for central network management and operation; • Network capacity: 10 Gbps ring (STM-64), max 1 Gbps network equipment for each government site • Interconnection with the National Backbone Network (all the 30 districts and border posts) IT Broadband Connectivity Infrastructure Projects
Kigali Metropolitan Network Completed Activities • Phase 1: – Installation of underground fibre-optic cables (57 Km, 54 government buildings, 63 agencies) – Deployment of IP/MPLS Network Equipments to (46 Routers, 105 Switches, 53 Optical Fiber Distribution Frame (ODF), 72 Network racks, 73 UPS) Installation and configuration completed for 46 government agencies – Construction of Network Operation Center (NOC) at Telecom House – 3040 Vo. Wi. Bro Network About the Project • WIBRO stands for Wireless Broadband; it is a Korean Mobile Wi. Max Technology which provide superior broadband services for data, voice , video • The network consists of a core fibre-optic transmission network , wibro radio equipments, antennas and masts installed at various locations in the city • Project implementation started in June 2008. First trial-run succesfully conducted in Dec 2009 • The project is divided into 2 phases. – The first phase is coverage of Kigali City – Second phase is coverage of 5 towns: Rwamagana, Huye, Rusizi, Ruhengeri and Gisenyi. Bro Network scheduled to go live on December 10 th, 2009 – Trial Run Phase (Dec 2009 to February) – Commercial Services requires a company set-up (Regulatory Requirement) Wi.
