E. – COOPERAZIONE PAESI EMERGENTI (Emerging Countries Cooperation) – is a no-profit and voluntary International organization born in Catania in 1983. Inspired by the Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights” The CO. P. E. strongly believes in the importance to stimulate, promote and strengthen cooperation among the peoples of emerging countries by promoting material, social, cultural and moral progress of individuals and disadvantaged groups.

SOMETHING ABOUT FOOD SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY Ensuring food security means ensuring a fundamental right. The project is an integrated program that refers to the first goal of the Millennium “Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger” and the seventh “Ensure environmental sustainability”.

A project implemented by CO. P. E. “IMPROVEMENT OF AGRICULTURAL LIVELIHOODS IN THE SONGEA DISTRICT” This is a project implemented in Msindo, a village between the district of Songea and the territory of Namtumbo district in Tanzania. The objective of this project is to improve the economic prospects for the rural population by promoting employment opportunities for young people from the district in the agricultural-livestock sector.

CENTER CRAS - FOOD SECURITY PROGRAM (CENTER RURAL AGRO-ECOLOGICAL SONGEA) In 2007 the project “Improvement of agricultural Livelihoods in the Songea District” was realized with the creation of the CRAS, or “Center Songea Rural Agroecological” Mahinya district, Ruvuma Region in Tanzania. It is a pilot centre for research, training, production and commercialization for agriculture, animal husbandry, and ecology of the territory. The beneficiaries, about 300 young people and local farmers, will be assisted through the creation of micro agricultural-livestock enterprises which are NGO-promoted and assisted (about 60).

COMPONENTS OF THECENTER CRAS The Centre is set up as an example of schoolfarm, whose primary goal is to improve the economic possibilities of the local population through the promotion of employment of young people of the district in the agricultural and livestock sector. In this way the tendency of the progressive abandonment of rural areas is reduced.
