YOUR TASK: • Create a MIXED MEDIA artwork based on an ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE • Your work can be representational or partly non-objective or symbolic • Along with your work, you will write a 1 page (250 words) research paper based on your chosen environmental issue
Possible Environmental Issue Topics: • • pesticides water pollution air pollution over population shark finning deforestation toxic waste landfills • • climate change global warming endangered species energy conservation renewable energy habitat destruction invasive species genetically modified foods controversies
STEPS: 1. Research and brainstorm as many ideas as possible for your chosen environmental issue. 2. Come up with sketches and references (pictures from magazines, books or the internet) and a rough draft of your artwork. Label what materials you will use and where. 3. Propose your idea to me (your idea, your sketches, a rough draft, why you want to do it and the materials that you will need). 4. Create your artwork. 5. Write and edit your research paper (must be at least 1 page, typed, double-spaced, telling about the environmental issue and why it is important to you). – What is the issue? – Why is it occurring, what are its causes? – Where is it occurring? – Who/what is affected? How? – What can be done to help/fix the problem? – How have you exhibited the issue in your art?
