Island Thassos - "Emerald of the Aegean"
The varied landscape island of Thassos impressed with three mountain ranges, waterfalls and marble cliffs, extending over some 380 square kilometers of island area. Its picturesque villages - small fishing villages on the coast or high-altitude, old mountain villages enchant visitors. The vegetation of the volcanic island has produced a variety of trees: pine woods - olive trees - the Calabrian pine and arbutus. The archaeological sites include the ancient naval port of the island's capital Limenas located on a mountainside and theater from the 4 th Century BC. Gold mines and marble - the tasty wine and marvelous honey make the island famous.
