Islam Pilgrimage Spot in India Ajmer Sharif, Ajmer is famous for the tomb of Hazrat Mu'inuddin Chishti, the founder of the Chishti Sufi order, one of the most important Sufi organizations. One of the most holy places of Islam in India is the Ajmer Sharif Dargah in Ajmer, Rajasthan. It is believed that no prayer at this Dargah is unanswered. The saint passed away in 1571. To continue the memory of the saint, Akbar constructed a beautiful mosque in the middle of Sikri complex with its palaces, courts, baths and gardens.
