Oil and Land: What ISIS controls The group (ISIS) seized control of Mosul, Iraq’s secondlargest city, last summer. But its power base is in Raqqa, eastern Syria, where ISIS is now in control of more than half of Syria’s oil assets along with a number of oil fields in Iraq. Oil is finding its way to the black market and could be making ISIS up to $3 million each year. Currently, the ISIS stronghold of Raqqa is surrounded by Iraqi forces trying to retake the city.

Terrorism: the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims. Terrorists have always existed. Getting rid of terrorism would be impossible, but it is reasonable to work towards lowering the threat of terrorism against the US and other countries around the world.

Obama’s Approach President Obama has a strategic plan to fight terrorist group, ISIS. In his weekly address (March 26 th), he explained that we are going to continue to get rid of and defeat ISIS with an air campaign. With military drones, we can monitor what is happening, and shoot extremely precise missiles at targets.

Obama continued. . . He continued on by saying that we will provide support forces in Iraq and Syria who are fighting ISIS/ISIL on the ground. Although the plan is well thought out and strategic, some countries might think the U. S. is weak for not sending in our own troops to help. Obama’s plan seems to line up with the thought that we will only lose more American troops if they are sent to the Middle East. Syria and Iraq need to fight for themselves, but we will support them.

Trump’s Approach Donald Trump also has the same goals in mind as President Obama:

Trump’s Approach Donald Trump also has the same goals in mind as President Obama: To defeat and destroy ISIS. His plan is slightly more hands on. The basis of Trump’s strategy is a bombing campaign. He believes that the most efficient way to get rid of ISIS is by (literally) blowing up everything. This tactic would be efficient and would get the job done, but it could also cost the lives of innocent Iraqis and Syrians.
