History? • First Isha Vidhya School opened its doors on June 19, 2006 in Sandegounden Palayam (SGP), Coimbatore. • In its first year, the school enrolled 263 students from 26 nearby villages • Three additional schools in villages near Erode, Nagercoil and Tuticorin were opened in the next academic year. • Founded by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev from Isha Foundation. It is one of their social Impact project under Isha Vidhya. http: //blog. ishafoundation. org/ • They started facilities like library, science and computer labs and sports rooms In schools.

Overview of Isha Vidhya • Isha vidhya provides Extensive library of print, audio, video & computer based learning content. Ratio of computer to student is 5: 1 • Over 50% of school hours spent on alternative learning methods • The student teacher ratio is quite low at 19. 4: 1, since special attention is given to slow learners. • Transportation Van facilities available for students to travel. • Highly subsidized nutritious noon-meals are provided 33 Govt. schools have been taken up under the new initiative called government school adoption project.

Asha for Isha? • Asha started its support from the year 2007 and has raised $73, 620 till now. • Asha provides scholarship for 80 students. Why do we need donations ? • Operational costs for last year alone was Rs. 67, 754, 358 • Expenses incurred on Government School Adoption Project Rs. 53, 56, 362 • Mid day noon meals for 5200 students • Current Funding Requirements for 2014 -2015 years is projected to be 29, 83, 575. ( Includes infrastructure, Scholarships and government school adoption project for 40 schools)
