WHAT IS TO BE SELF-CONCIOUS? Preoccupation, evaluation of every thing surrounding you and action that you are experiencing (Me judging ME). What is consciousness? "The state of being aware of our surroundings, our thoughts, feelings, sensations, etc. ” WHILE SELF-AWARENESS is: Realizing that we exist (as individual human beings) and that there is a present, past and future time.
Emotions vs. Feelings • BRIEF Physical response to stimulus. • MEASURABLE • (blood flow, brain activity, facial expressions, body stance). SPORADICALLY • Responses are similar (standard/universal) Healthy self conscious emotions can give you positive motivation and improve social functioning. Unhealthy and overwhelming self conscious emotions can result in social anxiety and isolation. • Mental associations, they can not be measured precisely. • Acquired through experience. • Vary person.

CONCLUSION Healthy self-conscious emotions can give us a positive motivation and improve our social functioning. Unhealthy self-conscious emotions will highly likely result in social anxiety, isolation, depression, and lack of closure for emotional traumas.
