Christians must be dogmatic about some things. I Timothy 6: 3 -4 a If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, 4 he is �� conceited and understands
Let’s take a few minutes to see six things the scriptures say about doctrine. I. The source of Christ’s teaching, of His doctrine, is God.
John 7: 15 -17 The Jews then were astonished, saying, “How has this man become learned, having never been educated? ” 16 So Jesus answered them and said, “My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me. 17 If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from

Christianity is a religion of knowledge. Romans 10: 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
III. The church in the New Testament was devoted to the Apostles’ doctrine. ( Every Day )
Acts 2: 41 -42 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. 42 They were continually devoting themselves to the Apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
I Peter 2: 2 -3 Like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation, 3 if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord.
IV. Doctrine establishes the purpose of the ministry of the church and each individual member thereof.
V. We must avoid those who misuse doctrine to cause division.
Romans 16: 17 Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them.
II John 9 -11 Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.

VI. Servants of God / Christ must attend to doctrine.
I Timothy 4: 13 Until I come, give attention to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation and teaching. ( didaskalia = doctrine ) Reading. . . Learn God’s will Exhortation. . . Encourage, admonish Teaching. . . Instruct in doctrine
I Timothy 4: 16 Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.
II Timothy 4: 1 -4 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.

Titus 1: 5 -9 For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you, 6 namely, if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe,

Clearly the scriptures emphasize the importance of the doctrine of Christ. 1. It communicates salvation to man. 2. It communicates God’s will to man.
This lesson has observed six of the many ways scripture endorses doctrine. 1. . Jesus received the doctrine from God. 2. . Doctrine is of great value to Christians. 3. . N. T. Christians were dedicated to doctrine. 4. . Doctrine directs everything we do for God. 5. . We must avoid advocates of strange doc. 6. . Christians must learn and teach doctrine.
There are only two kinds of doctrine. ( Some things are black and white ) 1. True. . . The doctrine of Christ ( I Tim. 6: 3 -5 ) 2. False. . . The doctrine of demons ( I Tim. 4: 1 -3 ) 3. There is no third option or middle ground.
Not every honest error will condemn a Christian, but some will so we must learn them. * No one knows all and most don’t understand as much as we think we do .
Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God ? Do you believe He died as a sacrifice for the sins of others and rose again ?
