Constitution Discussion update to reflect our name change from “Community” to “State” College create a specific date (i. e. , first of August) for officer positions to change remove the five appointed advisory members from the advisory committee, so all are elected change ratification language to meet State and Federal laws remove an unnecessary clause from the Rules of Order a few typographical errors

Dues Discussion For non-tenured faculty, we collect $150/year and send $125 to national AAUP.

Dues Discussion For non-tenured faculty, we collect $150/year and send $125 to national AAUP. Net gain $25/year For tenured faculty, we collect $225/year and send $226 to national AAUP. Net loss of $1/year Overall, the union gains $606 per year

Nominations for Vacant Positions Email nomination to Leslie by Friday, 8 September 2017 Advisory Committee The Advisory Committee of Indian River State College Chapter of the American Association of University Professors shall consist of five members at large elected by the members to assure that the interests of all faculty will be represented. Negotiations Committee The Negotiations Committee shall represent the bargaining unit in the negotiation of contracts or agreements with the District Board of Trustees. The Negotiations Committee shall consist of three members. One member is appointed by the officers to maintain continuity. The Executive Committee shall select nominees to the Negotiations Committee. Other nominations may be made from the floor. The chapter will elect the other two members. All voting shall be by secret ballot. In the event that not all three positions are filled, the President of the Chapter will appoint a member to serve on the Negotiations Committee. Members of the Negotiations Committee may be re-elected for succeeding terms.

Contract & Handbook Update, revise, and synchronize language in the Faculty Contract (pg. 28)

Contract & Handbook Update, revise, and synchronize language in the Faculty Contract (pg. 28) and Faculty Handbook (pg. 32) regarding Post Award Performance Review. Will also update the Criteria section (pg. 32) in the Faculty Handbook to eliminate outdated language pertaining to obtaining Post Award Performance in 3 years. Consider possible changes to the methodology used to determine faculty success rates. A cross functional workgroup consisting of administrators and 7 faculty members to begin meeting starting August 28 th and conclude by October 16 th with possible recommendations to the President’s Cabinet. Faculty Contract Article X Section 9 recognize club sponsorship as a committee assignment. Consistent language has been submitted to the Office of Academic Affairs to be incorporated into the 2017 -18 Faculty Handbook. DIS: In addition to Faculty continuing to follow through with agreed upon Directed Independent Study (DIS) assignments as outlined under the Faculty Member –Specific Duties and Responsibilities (pg. 11, item 13) of the Faculty Handbook; Administration agrees to consider a future study of DIS assignments. AAUP to start periodic open dialogue in August with Dr. Massey. Pay: (Since the budget has not been agreed, these are tentative offers, but administration would like AAUP agreement, so it can be presented to the Board at the 27 June meeting. ) 2 percent increase recurring to the base salary. 1 percent of base salary to be paid August on August 18, 2017. 1 percent of base salary to be paid on December 8, 2017
