Causes of Iritis: • Blunt trauma to the eye can cause traumatic inflammation of the iris • Nontraumatic iritis is frequently associated with certain diseases, such as Reiter syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease • Infectious causes may include Lyme disease, syphilis, and herpes simplex and herpes zoster viruses
Signs and Symptoms: ~ usually develops quickly and generally affects only one eye~ Pain in the eye or brow region Worsened eye pain when exposed to bright light Reddened eye, especially adjacent to the iris Small or funny shaped pupil Blurred vision and headaches

“Infection of the skin of the cartilaginous portion of the ear canal. ” Contributing factors • • • moisture canal occlusion local trauma allergic disease. These factors lead to a loss of the protective wax layer, causing edema of the squamous epithelium with plugging of the glandular secretory ducts
Pathogens involved: • • pseudomonas (41%) peptostreptococcus (22%) Staph. aureus (15%) Bacteroides
Signs and Symptoms: • • • swelling pain and itching very tender may hurt when you touch your ear or chew. feel blocked and may produce a milky discharge.
