First steps • Listening: – Talked to people from primarily stock photo agencies/libraries at the CEPIC Conference 2006 about requirements: - taxonomy of “real things” (not abstract concepts) required: e. g. objects of the nature, all kind of living things, humans - extending the Subject NCD in the area of lifestyle - fields for named entities (appearing in the picture) - fields and a taxonomy for rights information (copy right, usage rights) - in general: fields for stock photography (proposed at a CEPIC panel discussion) to complement IPTC news centric fields. • Asking: – Set up a “IPTC Core wish list” form on the web, not linked and advertised yet. Next steps • More listening and asking. • Setting up a working group to assess the received “wishes” and requirements. • Collaboration with other bodies on complementing standards for: - rights metadata - stock photography specific fields Collaboration = trying to avoid overlapping specifications. • Considering the user interface issue: how to get user interfaces for controlled vocabularies implemented? (Beyond a decent usability they must adopt and update vocabularies. ) © 2006 IPTC All rights reserved 4
