REGIONAL INTERMEDIARIES CTE legislation – House File 2392 Self-understanding: Students shall engage in developmentally appropriate inventories and assessments that promote self-understanding, the connection to work, and engage in meaningful reflective activities about the results. Career Information: Students shall research careers based on self-understanding results and engage in meaningful reflection about the findings. Career Exploration: Students shall engage in activities that reveal connections among school-based instruction, career clusters, and the world of work and engage in meaningful reflection. Postsecondary Exploration: Students shall engage in activities to explore relevant postsecondary education and training options related to career interests and engage in meaningful reflection on the exploration experience. Career and Postsecondary Decision: Students shall complete relevant activities to meet their postsecondary goals consistent with the plan and stated postsecondary intention.

How Do I Connect? • Identify and contact your intermediary • District Needs Assessment • Proper staff and licensures • Goals in line with HF 2392 • Intermediaries are required members of RPP
Multi-Occupations (M. O. C. ) • General Education Teachers- must have valid license with a Secondary Endorsement, Grades 5 -12 • Required for teachers supervising students in work-place experiences outside of their current teaching endorsement area- Examples • Language Arts/Journalism- can supervise student in town newspaper experience, without MOC, could not supervise a student work placement another area (doctor’s office). • Current Requirements include 4, 000 hours of vocational experience and 3 courses from UNI, ISU or Drake. • PSL counselors cannot add the MOC or supervise work experience students
Work Experience Coordinator (W. E. C. ) • For Special Education students • Teachers must hold a valid license with a 5 -12 Special Education endorsement. • If students are integrated in gen. ed. class with a MOC endorsed teacher, they can be supervised in a work experience by that teacher. • If it is a special ed. only class with a IEP learning goal, they must be supervised by the Special Education teacher with a W.
