IONAS origins: the context and the idea THE CONTEXT CHALLENGES OF THE ADRIATIC AND IONIAN AREA - Communication and cooperation among ports - Relations between ports and cities - Awareness on sustainable development and environmental management systems RELEVANCE OF THEMES IN EUROPE - Need of a wider European attention to the area and to its criticalities INTERACT - The new EU Programme created with the aim of improving communication and information for the Community Initiative INTERREG

IONAS origins: context and idea THE IDEA IONAS as the opportunity to work together on themes of common interest: -Fostering communications among ports -Enhancing the dialogue between cities and ports -Raising awareness on Environmental management systems IONAS as a link to the European space: Bringing the challenges to the wider European context, comparing experiences on a larger scale IONAS in INTERACT: -Taking advantage of this valuable framework for cooperation -Giving added value to the Programme by involving a large variety of partners from European and neighbouring countries
