ANTI-HIV EFFECTS OF ALKA HYDROXY – ALKA VITA - ALKA V 6 Dr. C.

ANTI-HIV EFFECTS OF ALKA HYDROXY – ALKA VITA - ALKA V 6 Dr. C. Reed Richardson & Dr. Dhiraj Vattem TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY San Marcos, TX • OBJECTIVE: To determine the following effects of Alkahydroxy in cell cultures and other in vitro systems • ANTI-RETROVIRAL • Note: Alkahydroxy – Alka Vita – Alka v 6 names used for different type of testing. Product name: Modified Liquid Silicate • New Marketing name:

Anti Viral Drugs • Virus evades immune system • Attaches to our cells using surface sugars • If the process can be inhibited, infection can be prevented

Viral Envelope • Different sugars • Determine the shape • Shape can be changed

Viral Envelope • Different sugars • Determine the shape • Shape can be changed by changing sugar composition • If shape changes they can no longer bind to cell receptor • They cannot hide from immune system anymore

Glucohydrolase • Glycohydrolase enzymes are found in the eukaryotic host cell’s Golgi apparatus •

Glucohydrolase • Glycohydrolase enzymes are found in the eukaryotic host cell’s Golgi apparatus • Inhibition has been found to decrease the infectivity of the HIV virion • Two enzymes do this: • Glucosidase • Glucuronidase • They add sugars to the viral envelope • More inhibition the better!

Summary • Alkahydroxy Effects on Anti-Retroviral/Anti-HIV • Alkahydroxy increased nitric oxide dependent antiviral effects

Summary • Alkahydroxy Effects on Anti-Retroviral/Anti-HIV • Alkahydroxy increased nitric oxide dependent antiviral effects at all concentrations tested • Alkahydroxy inhibited enzymes important in viral assembly, metabolism and replication • Alkahydroxy caused changes in the viral carbohydrate composition and metabolism • Alkahydroxy inhibited the activity of the enzyme responsible for transcribing RNA to DNA in the virus and the effects were dose dependent.

Summary • • Alkahydroxy Effects on Anti-Retroviral/Anti-HIV Does Alkahydroxy impact Nitric Oxide levels as

Summary • • Alkahydroxy Effects on Anti-Retroviral/Anti-HIV Does Alkahydroxy impact Nitric Oxide levels as measured by total nitrates? • The immune system uses nitric oxide for fighting viral, bacterial and parasitic infections • Alkahydroxy increased the NOx levels during the 6 day duration of the treatment • Levels were highest on day 6, suggesting a sustained effect of Alkahydroxy on NOx levels

Summary • Alkahydroxy Effects on Anti-Retroviral/Anti-HIV • Does Alkahydroxy effect the HIV envelope protein

Summary • Alkahydroxy Effects on Anti-Retroviral/Anti-HIV • Does Alkahydroxy effect the HIV envelope protein Glucuronylation? • The HIV virus evades the body’s immune system and attaches to cells using surface sugars • Inhibition of glucohydrolase enzymes can decrease the infectivity of the HIV virion • At a 1: 10 dilution, Alkahydroxy completely inhibited the activity of glucohydrolase

Summary • • Alkahydroxy Effects on Anti-Retroviral/Anti-HIV What impact does Alkahydroxy have on HIV-1

Summary • • Alkahydroxy Effects on Anti-Retroviral/Anti-HIV What impact does Alkahydroxy have on HIV-1 reverse transcriptase activity? • Retroviral infections cannot establish or reproduce without a process called “reverse transcriptase” • The study showed that at a 1: 10 dilution, Alkahydroxy completely inhibited reverse transcriptase activity

Summary • Alkahydroxy Effects on Anti-Retroviral/Anti-HIV • Can Alkahydroxy inhibit HIV-1 Protease activity? •

Summary • Alkahydroxy Effects on Anti-Retroviral/Anti-HIV • Can Alkahydroxy inhibit HIV-1 Protease activity? • An enzyme called “viral protease” is involved in the process of facilitating the production of new viruses • In the absence of this viral protease activity, viral assembly is unlikely • Alkahydroxy inhibited protease activity by 62% in the laboratory research

• NEWS RELEASE Summary • December 1, 2009 - A contract was signed with Texas State University to start the IN-VIVO testing for Cancer and HIV. • March 26 th. 2010 Treatment with this compound also resulted in an increase NO formation by neutrophils. Snetrosylation of thiol-proeases is a potential mechanism by which NO exerts anti-viral effects and inhibits viral replication. Additionally NO is an important signaling molecule in hematopoesis and myeloid differentiation. This compound may therefore alleviate some hematopoietic side effects of retroviral therapy. • These observations are being confirmed in our ongoing IN-VIVO Testing.

OTHER NEWS: TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY SUBMITTED TWO ABSTRACTS. WITH THE IN-VITRO TESTS RESULTS. ONE FOR CANCER AND ONE FOR HIV, FOR APPROVAL BY THE “FEDERATION OF AMERICAN SOCIETIES FOR RESEARCH ON BIOLOGY”. TESTS WERE APPROVED AND SHOWN AT THE ANNUAL CONVENTION AT THE ANAHEIM CONVENTION CENTER IN CALIFORNIA, APRIL 24, 25 and 26 TH. TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY SUBMITTED A MANUSCRIPT OF OUR “MODIFIED LIQUID SILICATE” COMPOUND TO THE “INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF APPLIED RESEARCH IN NATURAL PRODUCTS”. IT WAS APPROVED AND IT WAS PUBLISHED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2010.
