Symmetry
Sponges Phylum-Porifera Symmetry=______ Body Plan=Spongin for support, lack tissues Feeding-Current created by collar cells, water into pores and out the osculum • Filter Feeders
Respiration/Circulation/Excretion Circulation, Respiration and Excretion - done by cilia on certain cells sweeping current of water through the sponge. • Food, oxygen and water enter the sponge body through pores located at the surface of the sponge's body. • The oxygen is then exchanged with the carbon dioxide and the food is captured and digested by individual cells. • The monomers formed after digestion are absorbed by the body tissues and the feces exit the body with the water and the carbon dioxide through the upper opening of the sponge. • Liquid waste are excreted by individual cells and exit the sponge in this current also.
