Professional Development Plan (PDP) Completion of a PDP is required for educators who have completed an approved educator preparation program in a specific license category (teaching, pupil services, administration) after August 31, 2004. [Under PI 34. 17 (4) and 34. 18 (2)]

Step II- Part A Demographics • Cut and paste District Information already completed for you! • Add your own information – Include your teaching background and number of year teaching – Include your school’s demographics(found on the District’s Mentoring Page) – Include your school’s goals- cut and paste from school improvement plan
Step II B. Description of Goal to be Addressed • What do you desire to learn that would be so compelling to inspire your growth professionally AND Have a positive effect on student learning?

How is this goal? • I will learn the content of the “Literature in Diverse America” course and plan a variety of lessons so that students will engage with literature that provides diverse perspectives and experiences through formal and informal assessments. -be generic to fit a change in position.
Step II: Part C Rational • Be sure to include how your goal connects to your teaching position. • List the two specific Teacher Standards you will focus on to meet your goal.
Step II Part D- Assessing and Evidence • How will you assess your professional growth? -Lesson plan in year 5 - would this demonstrate growth? • How will you assess the effect of your professional growth on student learning? -Inform, pre assessment and post assessments, student samples…
Step II Part E- Objectives and Action Steps • Objectives must directly address your goal Objective 1 - What are you going to learn or research Objective 2 - What are you going to do or implement to enhance student learning Objective 3 - How will you assess student growth? Activities are ways to accomplish your goal. Need to collaborate- but not in every activity!
PDP Review Team Members (p. 8) Initial Educator Team consists of: • 1 IHE • 1 Administrator • I Peer (teacher, pupil service, or administrator) Between June 1 & Jan. 1 submit Goal to PDP Team Professional Educator Team consists of 3 Peers- Do not need to get goals approved

Step III: Annual Review of the PDP (p. 16) • Fill in completion dates for completed activities • Annual Reviews: Reflect on professional growth annually and reflect on student learning annually-Reflects how the educator grew that year • Description of revisions • Collect Evidence (pg. 17)
Step III- Collecting Evidence (pg. 17) • • To verify your plan you must have documentation…evidence Documents must be what you said they would be in Step IV A. …Must have 3 -5 Must show professional and student growth Must label each piece of evidence as professional or student growth sample Very helpful to give reflection of each piece of evidence to ensure your interpretation of the data-team members might not see the growth by just providing a lesson plan… Can include data graphs, surveys, videos, observation notes from administration, student samples, lesson plans, reflections, Need a baseline to show growth with yourself and students!
Step IV- Final Year of PDP (pg. 16) - Completed PDP Plan must be submitted to the PDP Team no later than Jan. 15 th. - Required documentation includes - Copy of signed goal approval forms Appropriate number of annual reviews 3 -5 pieces of evidence (pg. 17) Reflection summary
Step IV: Final Year of PDP • Final reflection must… – Describe how the educator grew professionally in WI Teacher Standards identified in the plan- what was the specific change in your professional practice? – Describe in detail the effect the educator’s learning had on student learning – Discuss the achievement of the goal and how the initial educator collaborated with others *Helpful to reflect in this order with three paragraphs
Step IV: Verification of Plan (p. 19) • Definition of Verifiable: Based on observable phenomena and be able to be proven or confirmed- by the teacher • Provide Verification Form to your team members • 2/3 majority must approve your plan • The team must notify the educator of its decision no later than June 1 st. • Team will send signed copies to the educator

Step IV: License Renewal (p. 19) • By June 1 submit signed Verification Forms and License Application to DPI, and fee to… *Do Not Send Your PDP DPI Teacher Licensing Drawer 794 Milwaukee, WI 53293 -0794 • • • Conduct and Competency Review needs to be notarized Employment Verification: June Voss @HR Make your own copies of everything for they will not be sent back to you! • Submit copy of new license to HR

Step IV: Next Steps • Start a new PDP as a professional educator – You do not need to get Goal Approval at the beginning of the process-just start your 5 year plan – Your team at the end of the next 5 years only has to be 3 PDP review team trained Peers.
