Round 1 Why am I here – in this subject at this time? Some questions to consider ❖What do I expect to learn? ❖Why is this important to me? ❖What do I know about Management? ❖How will completing this subject help me plan/progress my career?
Round Two What do I expect to gain by completing this subject? Questions to help your thinking ◇How will my actions be different? ◇How will this new knowledge improve my capabilities as a manager? ◇What do I expect to be able to do? ◇What might I no longer do – because I am here learning new things?
Round Three What are my experiences of managing or being managed? Ø Where/when have I been managed by someone? Ø What were all those experiences like? Ø Where have I been a leader? Ø What do I not want to experience again? Ø What would I like to repeat/continue?
Round Four What can I contribute to this experience of learning about – and doing – management? Questions and comments to consider • What kind of leader am I now? • What kind of manager would I like to be? • What am I willing to attempt? • What risks might I take to improve my leadership capabilities? • Do not underestimate yourself • Identify challenges you would like to try
Statistics – data collection • Select a code word or icon and put it in the boxes on the sheet provided • Write your answers to each items in its own box • Your replies will be the ‘raw data’ for an activity tomorrow • The goal is to learn more about learning and about each other
Personal Preferences • Collect a copy of the profile questionnaires • Learning Styles Questionnaire (LSQ) • Team role/functions questionnaire (Belbin) Complete both questionnaires Bring a print copy of both results pages on Tuesday
