Software • A set of instructions given to the computer to solve a program is called software. • It is also known as program. • A computer works according to the instructions written in software.
Application software • Application software is a program or group of programs designed for end users. • It is used to perform various applications or tasks on the computer. • Examples of an application include a word processor, a spreadsheet, a web browser, a media player or a photo editor.
Forms of Application software • Application software is available in the following forms – Packaged software – Custom software – Shareware – Freeware – Public domain software – Open software – Web applications – Mobile apps – Portable software
Productivity Software • Productivity software help user to work more efficiently and effectively to perform various tasks at home, school and business etc. • Some common productivity software – Word processing software – Spreadsheet software – Presentation software – Database software – Project management software
Software Suite • A set of application software available as a single package is called software suite. • When software suite is installed, all or selected application software in the suite are installed. • They typically include word processing, spreadsheet presentations and database applications. • Some examples are Microsoft Office, Google Docs, i. Work and Microsoft Office 365.
