SAS, Stata) Proprietary – need license; cost 64 -bit version no case limit and 32000 variables Can get slow with larger datasets Strong university community & explanatory modelling Weaker on specialized functions used by big enterprise (e. g. finance functions such as depreciation) Extensive documentation and official support Slow to adapt to new techniques (unlike R and Python which have big communities to develop libraries)
