Introduction to CNC Module Objectives: Define CNC. Recognize the advantages and disadvantages of CNC. Deal with the MTS Simulator. Create a setup form. Create a setup sheet.
What is CNC? CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control. It is the technology of controlling a machining operation using a computer program, which is called Numerical Control (NC) Program. shortthreadmill_WM 9_256 Kbps_download_NTSC_Constrai ned. Why CNC? CNC machines have many advantages: Increased productivity Constant quality of the work part Less scrap Better dimensional accuracy Increased ability to produce complex parts
CNC Disadvantages High initial cost Need a high qualified operator.
MTS Simulator A simulator is used to create NC programs, simulating them and checking their quality. These programs can be transferred and executed on the real CNC machine to produce work parts. The used simulator in our study will be the MTS Simulator.
