What is Anime? Anime is a term for Japanese animation More serious topics than the typical cartoon In Japan, people of all ages watch anime. Many genres: basic categories like comedy, romance, action, and drama. There also anime that are meant specifically for girls (shoujo) …and ones meant for boys (shounen).
The Art of Anime Most apparent difference between Japanese animation and other similar things is the artwork. Huge eyes, brightly colored hair and exaggerated emotional expressions/gestures are typical Early anime artists were influenced by early Disney characters Snow White’s Seven Dwarves, Mickey Mouse and Betty Boop all had large eyes… much like the characters from anime!
