Introduction Ø The LCFI Vertex Package will provide: • vertex finder ZVTOP with branches

Introduction Ø The LCFI Vertex Package will provide: • vertex finder ZVTOP with branches ZVRES and ZVKIN (new in ILC environment) • flavour tagging based on neural net approach - includes full neural net package - default: Richard Hawkings’ algorithm, cf. LC-PHSM-2000 -021 , but flexible to allow change of inputs, network architecture etc • quark charge determination, initally limited to jets containing a charged ‘heavy flavour hadron’ Ø a lot of progress since Valencia; Ø however: understanding differences between our code and FORTRAN more complex than anticipated Ø Marlin. Reco interface required more work: some things provided by fast simulation SGV but not by Marlin. Reco had initially been overlooked Ø code converging fast, working on final cross checks ECFA simulation phone meeting, 7 th February 2007 Sonja Hillert (Oxford) p.

Progress since Valencia Ø MARLIN processors and example steering files complete Ø better understanding

Progress since Valencia Ø MARLIN processors and example steering files complete Ø better understanding of FORTRAN procedure to calculate flavour tag inputs resulting in better agreement of input distributions Ø Required adding procedure to estimate IP position, based on SGV approach Ø Procedure to determine true jet flavour coded and tested Ø System test with Marlin. Reco in preparation: • turned out track cheater does currently not put out covariance matrices; will be added by Alexei Raspereza • Dennis Martsch going to process example files for Marlin. Reco system test on the GRID about to be submitted, processing will take about a week Ø Hope to release code before the next ECFA phone meeting ECFA simulation phone meeting, 7 th February 2007 Sonja Hillert (Oxford) p.
