Major material Introduction (1/2) PLA (Polylactic Acid, USA) PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a thermoplastic aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch (in the United States), tapioca products (roots, chips or starch mostly in Asia) or sugarcanes (in the rest of world). It can biodegrade under certain conditions, such as the presence of oxygen, and is difficult to recycle. One of our major materials is Nature. Works PLA (Polymerized Lactic Acid), a plastic resin derived from corn byproducts. 4
Major material Introduction (1/2) Ecoflex (BASF, Germany) Ecoflex® is BASF's completely biodegradable and compostable plastic. It is ideal for trash bags or disposable packaging as it decomposes in compost within a few weeks or in soil without leaving any residues. Ecoflex is designed to process like Low Density Polyethylene into films, bags or coatings. It does not require drying and is shelf and warehouse stable for one year. One of our major materials is BASF’s Ecoflex® Biodegradable Plastic 5
