What is “Pitch”? Pitch = 音高 This is how low or high a note sounds 音有多高, 有多低

What is “Rhythm”?

What is “Rhythm”? Rhythm = 節奏 This is how the notes are broken into patterns of both sound and silence 節奏是由不同長度的聲音和靜止組合而成

What is “Melody”? Melody = Rhythm + Pitch 旋律=節奏+音高

What is “Tempo”? Tempo = 速度 how fast the music is adagio – slow 慢 moderato – medium 中 allegro – fast 快 presto – very fast 非常快 beats per minute 每分鐘有______個音符

Which one is faster? Don’t get confused with the time signature – this has nothing to do with tempo, rather the songs rhythmic divisions 節奏不能反映速度

What is “Dynamic”? Dynamics = 強弱 How loud or soft the music is音樂的大細聲 Piano = soft 弱 Forte = loud 強 Crescendo = getting louder 漸強 Decrescendo = getting softer 漸弱

What is “Timbre”? Timbre = 音色 the tone colour of the music or instruments identify the different instruments in a song(不同樂器有 不同音色) the specific instrument qualities and how it is played( 同一件樂器有不同的彈奏方法, 營造不同的音色)

What is “Texture”? Texture = 織體 the layers of sound 音樂的層次 thick or thin? 厚/薄 How many instruments / vocals playing / singing at the same time? 多少件樂器/人聲同時進行

What is “Texture”? one playing(單一旋律) = monophonic (單音音樂) two different melodic/rhythmic layers = homophonic(主調音樂：一個旋律和伴唱) more than two different melodic/rhythmic layers = polyphonic (複音音樂：多個旋律同時進行)

What is “Style/Genre”? Style/Genre 風格, 曲種 = the catagorisation of musical elements into seprerate groups e. g. reggae, heavy metal, punk, jazz, blues, pop, R&B Each style typically has some set instrumentation, rhythms or harmony that are typical to that genre reggae music typically uses guitars, bass, drums, organ and vocals, but it is the off-beat rhythm that defines it
