PURPOSE OF THE COURSE • To learn basics of Hydrology and Water Resources • Introduction to Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling (will discuss few models and their applications)

THEORY 1. Introduction to Hydrology and Water Resources 2. Precipitation: Types, Measurements, Analyses 3. Hydrologic Losses: Infiltration, Evapotranspiration 4. Watershed Management : Watershed characteristics, rainfall- runoff response, hydrograph analysis, runoff estimation (runoff models), water budget 5. Floods: frequency analysis, flood routing, flood forecasting, flood management

TERM PROJECT • Individual projects will be assigned to students based on weekly exercises (will start from week 3 rd) • Project report due at the day of presentation
HOMEWORK/PROJECT/QUIZ/EXAMS • Homework: Students will be required to do homework and submit on the date mentioned on homework • Workshop Assignments: Each student will be assigned an exercise after each lab topic covered that will eventually be converted into term project • Quiz: Several in class Quiz (both surprise and informed) • OHT: 2 in class OHT (approximately 1/3 of the course coverage) • Lab Midterm: 1 Lab midterm (decide later) • Project Presentation: On week before Final Exam • Final Exam: Comprehensive coverage of the course during the last week of semester
