Introduced Species �A species that is not native to the environment it is in. �Can be brought intentionally. �Can be brought by accident. �Usually has no known natural predators causing it to become an invasive species and take over its environment.

Zebra mussels �Thought to have been brought over accidentally by ballasts being emptied in harbors from ships that travel all over the world. �Quickly spreading over the Great Lakes region and into the surrounding rivers and lakes. �Destroys the natural balance of the lake/river ecosystem by filtering the water, attaching to native species and no known natural predator.

Kudzu �A plant that grows up to 8 feet a day and is quickly taking over in southern United States. �Chemicals usually used to kill plants make it grow better. �Only way to get rid of it is to use a specific chemical repeatedly typically over a period of years. �Was brought over from Asia to control erosion.
