What is each graph used for? Pie Chart – disperse a total (%) Bar

What is each graph used for? Pie Chart – disperse a total (%) Bar Graphs- shows frequency of qualitative or quantitative data Stem and Leaf Plot-breaks digits in half and shows all values Time Plots- Show data changes over time (stocks)

Types of Bar Graphs Histogram- width of bar shows a range. 1. I. E.

Types of Bar Graphs Histogram- width of bar shows a range. 1. I. E. 8 -12 years is one bar, 13 -18 years is one bar, 19 -23 years is another bar 2. Height of the bar shows actual frequency (number of times it occurs) 3. Bars have same width and always touch Pareto Chart- is a bar graph that shows order as well (Highest bar first)

Histograms Cont. Class width: highest value-smallest value Desired number of classes (i. e. columns)

Histograms Cont. Class width: highest value-smallest value Desired number of classes (i. e. columns) Midpoint: Lower Class limit + Upper Class Limit 2 Relative Frequency of Category: F (F = number of times occurred) N (N = total number of occurrences)

Uniform graph Does not apparel to have any modes Graph is pretty symmetrical and you can almost fold it in half No tails Not skewed No outliers

Tails and Skewed Thinner end of distribution is said to be a tail Histogram

Tails and Skewed Thinner end of distribution is said to be a tail Histogram is skewed to the side of the tail. Ex. Right Skewed
