DIAGNOSIS SYMPTOMS Ø Absence of featal movements SIGNS Ø Retrogression of breast changes • PER ABDOMEN Ø Gradual retrogression of height Ø Uterine tone is diminished Ø Fetal movements are not felt during palpation Ø Fetal heart sound absent Ø Egg shell cracking of fetal head
INVESTIGATION q Sonography Ø Lack of fetal motions Ø Oligohydramnios Ø Collapsed cranial bones q Straight x-ray abdomen Ø Spalding sign – irregular overlapping of cranial bones on one another is due to liquefaction of the brain matter and softening of the ligamentous structures supporting the vault Ø Hyperflexion of spine Ø Crowding of rib cage Ø Roberts sign(Appearance of gas shadow)
