Student Action with Farmworkers is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to bring students and farm workers together to learn about each other’s lives, share resources and skills, improve conditions for farm workers, and build diverse coalitions working for social change.

SAF works with farm workers, students, and advocates in the Carolinas and nationwide to create a more just agricultural system. Since 1992, we have engaged thousands of students, farmworker youth, and community members in the farmworker movement.

“I learned this summer that facts and theories are just a small part of understanding inequalities and injustices in the world, a bigger part is listening and understanding individual stories. Before coming to NC this April, I hadn’t thought much about where my food comes from, the people who grow it, the way the agricultural system affects entire families’ lives. ” Addie Bean. Thompson, 2014 Intern “I came out of the summer feeling both immensely inspired and immensely hopeless because at times all of these issues felt so overwhelming, but at others, seeing so many people in the movement working to solve them made me want to continue fighting. ” –Rachel Taylor 2015 Intern
