PART 1: THE PRE-INTERVIEW • Learn about the company • Take a test drive • Dress the part • Arrive early!
WHAT TO WEAR? Men: • Black, Grey, Navy suit • Simple tie • White collared shirt • Polished shoes Women: • Suit • Pants with simple blouse • Knee-length skirt • Close toed shoes with modest heal Pressed clothing, simple makeup, neat hair, minimal fragrance, minimal jewelry
PART 2: THE BEGINNING OF THE INTERVIEW • Your interview begins the minute you pull into the parking lot • Meeting the interviewer • First impressions are everything! • Don’t: • Smoke, chew gum, curse, slouch, touch items on the interviewer’s desk, fidget with jewelry or tie, or other things in your reach
PART 3: THE QUESTIONING • Body language and posture • Positivity- sell your abilities and traits! • Be honest, but not incriminating • Be thorough • Ask for clarification • Feel free to pause before answering

PART 4: THE END OF THE INTERVIEW • Ask questions • Think of some questions during your research • Keep questions limited to the company and the job • Remember: You’re also interviewing the company! • You may be offered the job on the spot • You do not have to answer immediately! • Now is the time to ask about salary and benefits. • “We’ll contact you” • Thank them!

PART 5: FOLLOW UP • Thank you note • Write and MAIL a thank-you note immediately • Be sure to mention something specific from the interview • Follow up • Call in a week or so • Ask when they expect to have a decision
