Chicago-style Website It is often sufficient simply to describe web pages and other website content in the text (“As of May 1, 2017, Yale’s home page listed. . . ”). If a more formal citation is needed, it may be styled like the examples below. For a source that does not list a date of publication or revision, include an access date (as in example note 2).

Chicago-style Instead of ibid. Use of “ibid. ” The abbreviation ibid. (from ibidem, “in the same place”) traditionally refers to a single work cited in the note immediately preceding. In electronic formats that link to one note at a time, however, ibid. risks confusing the reader. Thus, in a departure from previous editions, CMOS 17 will discourage the use of ibid. in favor of shortened citations. To avoid repetition, the title of a work just cited may be omitted. Chicago-style Electronic Sources For sources consulted online, include a URL or the name of the database. Many journal articles, ebooks and chapters in ebooks list a DOI (Digital Object Identifier). A DOI forms a permanent URL that begins https: //doi. org/. This URL is preferable to the URL that appears in your browser’s address bar. Radisich, Paula Rea.
