Berne Convention • First multilateral convention for the protection of copyright: Adoption 1886, Stockholm 1967, Paris 1971 • Ensures an international protection for works created in any country of the Berne Union. • 163 Member Countries • National treatment, minimum rights and absence of formalities

Berne Convention • Economic Rights: reproduction or making copies, public performance, broadcasting or communication

Berne Convention • Economic Rights: reproduction or making copies, public performance, broadcasting or communication to the public, distribution, adaptation, translation of the work, droit de suite • Moral Rights: Paternity and Integrity • Limitations to the minimum rights: quotations, use for illustration for teaching purposes or for news reporting • Duration: At least, life of the author plus 50 years after his death
