 • Many National Meteorological Services (NMSs) and Regional Centres are addressing these issues

• Many National Meteorological Services (NMSs) and Regional Centres are addressing these issues but have little time for awareness raising. NMSs are mainly preoccupied with routine operations (observations, collection, processing, forecasting and production of routine information and products) • Universities, Research Centres and other institutions are contributing effectively to the science of meteorology • Meteorological Societies are the links with the community 11/4/2020

Challenges: • Need for effective communication media • Enhance awareness of the community •

Challenges: • Need for effective communication media • Enhance awareness of the community • Enhance interest of students in meteorology ( a big challenge in developing countries as many avoid science and rush to lucrative professions law, revenue collection etc • Encourage research and Development • Problem of resources in developing nations – poor economies, few professionals and inadequate finances • Encourage more membership – why should one be a member of a Meteorological Society? 11/4/2020
