WHAT IS THE INTERNATIONAL CAMP STAFF PROGRAM (ICSP)? International Department of the BSA is provided sponsorship by the U. S. State Department to conduct a cultural exchange program Through ICSP, members of Scouting in other countries, ages 18 -30, can apply to work as a camp counselor at a BSA summer camp 2

Cultural Exchange Campers learn different customs, cultures, and Scouting programs from other countries International

Cultural Exchange Campers learn different customs, cultures, and Scouting programs from other countries International staffers learn the customs, cultures, and Scouting program of the BSA BENEFITS International staffers can teach various Scout skills and merit badges International staffers can share games, songs, and what Scouting is like in their country Program Enrichment 3

BSA Application APPLICATION PROCESS Invitations are sent in the fall Camps are 6 weeks

BSA Application APPLICATION PROCESS Invitations are sent in the fall Camps are 6 weeks minimum Salary equal to American staffer Must have an International Rep Desired skills, camp dates, age range, gender, and nationality $500 fee with app or billed later Deadline February 15 th Assignments made in March with response due week after received Once accepted, contact staffer 4

Staffer Application APPLICATION PROCESS Invitations are sent in the fall Picture, biographical info, English ability, skills, references, medical 18 -30 years old Member of a recognized NSO Interviewed by NSO English certification Deadline February 15 th After accepted, will receive placement and Visa documents Must pay SEVIS and Visa fees, and transportation costs 5

Flight info sent to council contact – arrange transportation to camp Call/Email the International Department as soon as staffer arrives Must wait 3 days before taking staffer to Social Security office Staffers can be commissioners, program area instructors, or have roaming assignment ARRIVAL Staffers CANNOT be assigned office work, kitchen staff, custodial jobs, or menial labor Home hospitality on days off, precamp, and post-camp. Staffers cannot be left alone at camp All staffers have accident and sickness insurance via the International Department 6
