Interesting Facts 26 th February The first Grand National was held in 1839 on this date at Aintree. The winner was a horse called “Lottery”. It is run over a distance of about 4 miles with 30 fences to jump. 28 th February Shrove Tuesday (also known in Commonwealth countries as Pancake Tuesday or Pancake day) is the day in February or March immediately preceding Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent), which is celebrated in some countries by consuming pancakes.

Well Done Eve and Rosa for competing in the Orkney Carriage Group Horse Show on Sunday. Rosa won 2 rosettes for leading her horse, Emma, around the Market Stance. Eve won rosettes as well, receiving 1 st place in some categories.
Well Done Jack for receiving his “Deep Ender” Certificate. In order to get this certificate, Jack had to swim 1 length of the swimming pool (25 metres), and tread water. Well done Jack!
