What is ISVC? a. ISVC is an open-source learning management system (LMS). a. Developed for the Illinois Board of Education. b. Also developed for the School Districts in the Southern Illinois Region. b. ISVC integrates functions of an LMS with simulations from Molecular Workbench and Ph. ET. a. A simulation is a interactive animation featuring Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology concepts. b. Simulation Example: John Travoltage.
The Purpose of ISVC a. The purpose of this project is to create a learning environment where teachers can prepare supplimental material that allows students to take a hands on approach to their education. a. ISVC integrates open-source simulations from different sites onto one localized database. b. ISVC offers a simple interface. c. ISVC allows teachers to integrate quizzes and homeworks with the lesson. d. Open-Source alternative to other LMSes.
