Page 1 o Write your full name across the top o Write 5 things about yourself o Examples: Favorite class, type of music you listen to, how many brothers and sisters you have o Use 4 different colors of colored pencils o Inside cover will be used for rules, rewards, and consequences.
Page 2 “The Left Side” What goes on the left side? Output – the ideas and information that comes from your brain! Use color! Left Side o Examples: Brainstorming Concept Maps Quick writes Graphic organizers Data and graphs you create n Homework n Classwork activities n Anything you create n n n
Page 3 o “The Right Side” What goes on the right side? n The Input – the information that is given to you by an instructor or others. n Use blue or black ink and highlight! o Examples n Cornell Notes n Vocabulary words and meanings n Lab or activity instructions n Handouts Right side
Page 4 o Various possible uses: n Standards n Vocabulary n Lab format
Page 5, 6, and 7 o Table of Contents Page # Left Page # 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 (2 or 3 word summary of activity) Right Mark all table of contents pages to page 140. You will use 3 sides.
Last 10 Pages o Turn to the back of you notebook and count 10 pages from the back. o Fold back page and label warm-ups. o This is where all your warm-ups will be. They are written one after the other (do not start a new page for each) o On the first page write “Week One Warm-ups” in the heading area (the large space on top of the page) o Write tomorrow’s date under the heading (8/15/12)
Numbering Pages o Starting on the first page where you wrote 5 things about yourself, number each side of a page in pencil. o Pages will never be torn out – be careful. o If you do not have enough time to finish numbering, please finish for tomorrow. o You should have about 140 pages numbered.
