INTENT TO RAISE QUESTIONS ITRQ
J. BALÉN: CAN WE LOOK INTO HOW TO BETTER SHARE INFORMATION ON CAMPUS? • Last spring President Beck charged Nicole Ipach and Nancy Gill with creating a campus communication strategy. I called Nancy and asked her where they are in the process. • This fall the campus News Center replaced the Wavelength as the primary campus source for campus events and activities. https: //www. csuci. edu/news/ You can submit events online for addition to the News Center. It is updated daily. • There is a campus roundtable that meets monthly to discuss communication and look at ways to improve it. Donna Flores, Nick Fuentes, and Rosario Cuevas are members from Academic Affairs. If faculty are interested in joining, they would be welcome.
J. BALÉN: CAN WE LOOK INTO HOW TO BETTER SHARE INFORMATION ON CAMPUS? • Nancy is exploring the use of new software to take advantage of the many monitors in buildings around campus. The new software would make it possible to tie all of these monitors to one events feed or social media feeds to advertise events and activities on campus, while keeping building or program specific messages too. She hopes to launch this by Spring semester • Under discussion next is a campus text messaging system that would be opt in for students and others so people can receive updates or reminders from the university about events.
J. BALÉN: CAN WE LOOK INTO HOW TO BETTER SHARE INFORMATION ON CAMPUS? • Finally, a discussion and examination of an improved calendaring system to replace 25 Live will start soon. She hopes to have a new software calendaring system in place by next fall semester. • In addition new interactive campus maps were launched this semester. http: //maps. csuci. edu/ • The Go. CI app was redesigned and re-launched and it links quickly to calendars, News Center, registration and payments, and social media.
B. AQUINO: CAN THE FINALS SCHEDULE BE RECONSIDERED SO THAT FINALS CAN OCCUR ON THE SAME DAY AS THE CLASSES OCCUR. I. E. T/TH 7: 30 AM CLASSES HAD FINALS ON FRIDAY AT 3: 30 PM, M/W 7: 30 AM FINALS ARE FRIDAY AT 8: 00 AM • The answer is one of space. There is little of it and with the 2 hour blocks of time, finals would need to start at 5: 30 am to accommodate all courses on the same day that the classes are held. As the 7: 30 am classes were the most recent to be added to the schedule, they were the ones that were shifted to other days/times.
