Concept Development A child’s concepts become more refined as the child matures. The child knows the difference between “before” and “after” , but “today” “tomorrow” and “yesterday” are not yet grasped completely. Concepts of time improve slowly during the second and third year.

Readiness for Learning Children learn new skills only when they are physically and intellectually ready. A child’s sense of failure can often cause the child to learn slowly than more rapidly. It is important to not push a child into learning when they are not ready it is also important not to delay certain tasks that they should already be doing.
