Integration Versus Segregation By: JCarter
Integration
What is Integration? • Integration is where all groups are mixed in together. • For an example, the United States of America is nicked named the melting pot because it has the most different type of ethnicities. • This is the society we live in today but it wasn’t always like that. • Segregation is a big part of the American history but is history. • So why should we go back?
This is the Argument against integration.
Segregation
What is Segregation? • Segregation is the separation of ethnicities • For an example, the school cafeteria. No matter if students have friends of different ethnicities they always resort to eating by people of similar race. • The Jim Crow era in the Untied States of America would also be defined as segregation because there were laws set in place to separated ethnicities. • So why is Integration better?
Why is Integration better? • Integration allows different ethnicities to learn how to work together as one species. • Birds flock together, herbivores migrate together, even multiple fish species swim together. • Therefore, it is natural for all species to work together as one. Homo sapiens is no different. We are social creatures. • The closer we are together the faster we will develop, improve, and understand the world around us. • Segregation just prepares us for failure.
In response to the video. • I do not agree that segregation is the solution to improve the lives of Black Americans. • Blacks spend their money at big business not knowing who owns what. Most black Americans don’t even own a business much less anything other than a salon. • We cannot reinvest into our own community if the opprotunities aren’t there. • A convenient store, gas stations, grocery stores would be a good start.
To continue • I do believe the black family structure has been destroyed because of slavery and the Jim Crow era. • However, I don’t believe that blacks should be limited to one another. • We are all human and have the right to love one another just the same based on preference.
And finally… • The unemployment rate depends upon who is qualify for the jobs available at any time. The dependability of a black american depends if they are able to work. • This isn’t based on much on skin color then it does on getting a degree. Most black Americans don’t go to college, military, or a trade school so they normally struggle for work. • If that is based on laziness or ignorance, that has nothing to with segregation or integration. • Everyone has the opportunity to get ahead in life, even though some cultures are disadvantage compared to another, we all have the ability to achieve the “American Dream”
