Integration of RFID, Wireless Sensor Networks, and Data Mining in an e-Pedigree Food Traceability

Integration of RFID, Wireless Sensor Networks, and Data Mining in an e-Pedigree Food Traceability System U-SCM Research Center, Nano Information Technology Academy, Dongguk University-Seoul Introduction System Evaluation Due to the growing customer health awareness, food quality and safety has gained considerable attention. 1. Performance of WSN based Sensor Monitoring System It is essential for food industry to improve quality assurance, food product integrity, food safety guarantees, and associated transparency along the complete food supply chain Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a well-known and widely adopted auto-identification technology that can be used within traceability systems to track and monitor objects, particularly in various supply chains. In addition, the use of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) for temperature monitoring is crucial to monitor perishable food product quality in the supply chain. Time needed to sent the sensor data to server Success rate given different scenarios 2. Performance of RFID Reader Solution: 1. e. Pedigree based on RFID System The e-Pedigree implementation is to avoid counterfeiting and distribution of low-quality food products along the supply chain. 2. WSN based Sensor Monitoring System The Sensor Monitoring System is used to monitor temperature and humidity perishable food product quality in the supply chain 2. Neural Network Model to predict missing sensor data. Neural Network technique is adopted to predict missing sensor data along the supply chain in order to ensure a complete product history. Time needed to read the tags Success rate of reader 3. Performance of EPCIS server Results 1. e. Pedigree based on RFID System Time needed by server to receive the data Time needed by server to present the data 4. Prediction accuracy for missing sensor data Reader and Handheld Neural Net predict the temperature data Reader reads tags e-Pedigree Traceability in Kimchi Supply Chain 2. WSN based Sensor Monitoring System Comparison of prediction models Conclusions The e-pedigree food traceability system provides a complete history of food product quality (as well as temperature and humidity) from farm to retailer. Sensor gather the temperature-humidity Sensor and Gateway 3. Neural Network Model to predict missing sensor data The proposed system was successfully implemented in the Korean kimchi supply chain network, and verified that the system is robust and shows positive results for the industry. The WSN based monitoring system has sufficient capabilities to gather the sensor data with high success rate. System performance was evaluated based on the reader and server capability, and verified that system performance will be affected by the number of supply chain partners in the supply chain. Missing Sensor Data Neural Net Model The Neural Network model achieved excellent results predicting temperature and humidity data compared to linear regression. www. postersession. com
