ICS: Fulfills Physical Science Requirement for Graduation • For your son/daughter to graduate they must pass a Physical Science. • ICS is one of the Physical Science courses available to students in high school.
ICS: Fulfills Physical Science Requirement for Graduation • However, only Chemistry and Physics are recognized by universities. • ICS only fulfills High School graduation requirements.
Grading Scale 4 = Advanced 3 = Proficient 2 = Developing 1 = Beginning 0 = No Example Note: all students must receive a “ 1” or better to receive credit for the course.

Report Card Grades On Progress Reports and Final Report Cards the number scale will be translated into letter grades: 4=A 3=B 2=C 1=D 0=F
Assignments will be posted on the white board at the front of the class and on K. Ellis schoology page, accessed through the school website. Students must do make-up work & are required to complete any missing assignments.
Late Assignments • Assignments are considered late if they are turned in after the due date. • If assignments are more than 2 weeks late they will lose one number grade for every additional week they are late. • Late assignments can affect a student’s work habits grade.
Assignments • Students are required to check schoology daily to view assignments and Track their grades. * • Students must submit a screen shot of their assignments and scores to schoology. • https: //lms. lausd. net • *Electronic assignments will be uploaded directly to schoology grading program weekly.
Homework • Homework will be assigned once a week, usually consisting of class work that is too long to complete during class. • If a students claims they were not assigned homework please see Ms. Ellis schoology page.
Materials • Students need to bring the following items: – Pencil with eraser – Pen – Spiral notebook or 3 -ring binder with lined paper – If possible, a small ruler or protractor
Attendance • Tardy Policy: Students are responsible for any work and/or instructions missed if they arrive late to class. Students will receive a “U” for cooperation on their final report card (10 week quarter grades) if they have accrued 5 or more tardies. -All students who arrive more than 30 minutes late will be considered absent and sent back to attendance office to clear the absence.
Food and Drink • Students are allowed to bring water to class as long as they keep it at a safe distance from their laptops. • All other food and drinks are not allowed at any time during class, with the exception of breakfast in the classroom.
Electronics • Absolutely NO electronic devices should be used in class except electronic translators, calculators, and, when necessary, laptop computers. • If a student uses their phone or listens to music during class they will first be given a warning. The second time they do so the device will be confiscated and only a parent may retrieve it.
ELAPA MAGNET Classroom Norms & Expectations 1. I am always in class the first 15 and last 15 minutes of each period. 2. I only wear Torres caps and I only wear them outside the building. The way I dress shows that I am here to learn. 3. I bring my backpack to school everyday. I put in on the floor, on the back of my seat but never on my desk.
ELAPA MAGNET Classroom Norms & Expectations 4. I eat in the covered lunch area or flagpole quad during lunch. I never eat in classrooms, except for breakfast in the classroom. The only drink I bring into my classroom is my water bottle. 5. I love my phone and therefore I put it away during class so I can focus on learning. I know that I will have to turn it in to my teacher if I use it during class. 6. I put my earbuds or headphones away within my backpack throughout my classes.
