2016 -2017 Request for Flexibility Interest Form School: Tri-Cities High School CONCEPT NAME STRATEGICINITIATIVE BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE NEED/CHALLENGE (WITH SUPPORTING DATA) BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE CONCEPT AND HOW IT ADDRESSES THE NEED/CHALLENGE EXPECTED RESULTS ANTICIPATED COST AND ANTICIPATED FUNDING SOURCE IDENTIFY AND EXPLAIN KNOWN Learning Community: Central Full Release Days Professional Development and Engagement Relevance Increase the percentage of students scoring at the proficient and distinguished levels on the GA Milestones in 9 th grade Literature, American Literature, Coordinate Algebra, Geometry, Physical Science, Biology, US History and Economics. Teachers will apply DDI principles to analyze common assessments and create re-teaching schedules. The additional professional development and data analysis days provide teachers with the opportunity to create valid and reliable assessments, analyze student progress, develop re-teaching plans, and tiered interventions to increase student mastery. Teachers will analyze common assessments within (2) days and design interventions to remediate and accelerate learning. A structured DDI approach coupled with dedicated PD and data analysis days will increase course rigor, foster teacher collaboration, and allow the school to codify the DDI approach. Most importantly, student achievement will increase as a result of the intentional focus on common assessment and timely, data-driven interventions. Instructional Training Consultants will be retained to facilitate the training on the 2 Professional Development Days for a total cost of $_2, 500__. The funding source is: __Title I_____ Students/Families: Special Needs families will possibly have to plan for day care. Families will receive plenty of advance notice to make preparations for full release days. Nutrition: n/a Personnel/HR: Teachers will receive targeted development in key areas that will directly impact their practice. Analysis of common assessments to develop & reteach and drive instructional evaluation. Transportation: Drivers will still have their middle and elementary school routes to assume.
