Tonight’s Resolution • Adds 1 additional day at the end of the school year: June 14 • Eliminates late starts (8 hours) and early releases (4 hours)

Additional Instructional Hour Options Permitted Under OAR 581022 -1620 • Recess: Up to 60 hours for Grades K-3 • Staff Professional Development: Up to 30 Hours • Parent Teacher Conferences: Up to 30 Hours (PPS counts between 16. 5 and 18. 6 hours already) • PROPOSED Inclement Weather: Up to 14 hours

GOAL: Not simply to be in compliance but to restore as many classroom hours for our students as possible

Exploring Options • Additional days at the end of the year (does not affect seniors, cuts into time for summer construction/EHS work, family& staff plans disrupted) • Converting June 15&16 planning days (requires PAT agreement) • Moving graduation dates (notices already sent, limited availability at venue, families already planned)

• Converting April 7 planning day to instructional day (requires PAT agreement) • Using holidays- President’s Day and Memorial Day (requires multiple unions to agree and families/staff plans may be disrupted) • Shortening spring break (family/staff plans may be disrupted, will require bargaining with unions)

• Adding minutes to the start or end of school day (requires PAT agreement, challenges to realigning schedules) • Saturday instruction (scheduling challenges, requires multiple unions to agree)

Waiver • If there are no additional missed days due to weather, we do not anticipate needing a waiver to meet state compliance. • Our goal is not simply to be in compliance.
